I worked with a woman making handbags to their goods through flea markets, film costume set Market and direct marketing in the stores. In 2008 I started my own line of elegant and edgy purses and evening wear with not-so-subtle hints of romance, 50's Glamour and Boudoir intimate inspiration. I hope my line of sophisticated women's market at a national level and perhaps even worldwide. The complaint from my purse to Boston had been very rewarding.
Each piece I create is a unique, one-of-a-kind item. I use residues, last run games, and vintage materials, including, if I have the hardware and ornamentation, and have even removed kimonos and dresses used. I was inspired by a friend who decided to adopt an environmentally friendly clothing store, before they opened "green" was trendy. Based on the slow reception in her shop, which she opened in Palm Beach, FL, I saw the need for high-end, Eco-conscious wallet to a sophisticated audience to meet.
I was on a trip to the Dominican Republic and was supported by the passion of the artist, I met there, delighted. During a rain storm I pass to shop at a local shopping center and found shelves full of beautiful, handmade clothing and purses. I bought about 4 wallets as inspiration pieces, and when I got home I dusted off the sewing machine and got the job. I was my first bag that I started Cutting and sewing, and soon had a table full of them enthusiastically. I get really excited about every piece, but I see my friends as inspiration. Each piece is for a true Bostonian, that their essence has called in the design and coloring.
Each bag has a matching one-of-a-kind evening skirt. I started to show tired up at parties worrying that someone the same dress as me. Worse still, my photo in two magazines in the same month with the same dress to two different events! I was so thrilled by the success of my wallet that I turned skirts as a way to explore my potential as a fashion designer. Plus, now I can be sure participate at every event and I pose for photographers with a clear conscience.
I think I have a good eye for design, according to my peers. I do not use a pattern, and I have made every budget and rock without measurement. I'm so focused on the attention to detail that I was not against a little more time for each piece to make it as perfect as I can. This philosophy can be very time consuming. The Cici skirt that has a handmade ruffle out of the last Italian silk (in Value of $ 100 + a yard), took me four days to complete. But it was worth it – it's one of my favorites.
I have numerous business Contacts made by this venture, especially a group of ladies that I have now joined forces to high-end fashion shows, trunk shows and fashion-focused events offer throughout Boston. CAGE Couture (Catherine, Amy, Gail and Emma) brings to Boston a unique boutique, shopping, elegant surroundings with our own style. Each show is also a Advantage which we derive a portion of the proceeds to a worthy cause to give, including locally, the MS Cure Fund and The Children's Trust Fund and nationally, the American Heart Association.
