Carry positive attitude | Wise Up: Smart is the new black, says Lisa Germinsky
Now that Obama is a few months into his term and the Dubya jokes quickly fade from memory – let's just agree that is not the former President, as we have said, cerebral – I just can not pin our collective Chaos on people. What were the most of us do, while the country was run into the ground? The search for the next "American Idol"? Spelling like a fifth grader? Waiting for the next Pop Tart's wardrobe malfunction?
Let's face it a team, we have not exactly at the top of our game was. But times are a-Changin '.
Courted by the soothing sound of a President and his thorough knowledge of the English language, I heard President Obama to speak openly to our mounting obstacles during a February press conference. And while the state of our nation unsettled me, I take comfort in our leaders unwavering determination, vision and above all, his intelligence. Then I remembered: It's cool to be president smart.Has Obama single-handedly inspired a nation, the Head pull out of their ass? A bit of evidence that we reconsider longing again:
1. Our "It Girl" is smart. We can not to get enough of Tina Fey. You could easily open your eyes, but that's not what we first noticed her. We love Fey because she made it funny, on topics I think we would rather ignore. It wisely and courageously uses the world stage to do the things that we say were killed to hear.
2. The ultimate fashion authority says so. Vogue devoted several pages of its January issue to Katie Couric, Campbell Brown and Rachel Maddow. And not in an investigation "What designers are-in-your-cabinet-ladies?" Way. No, it's all business. Vogue celebrates the women transform news programs, setting limits and asking the guide to difficult questions.
3. The frivolous note taking. Meet the Recessionista, which was formerly known as Fashionista. They have given up Carrie Bradshaw financial credo – "I like my money where I can see it: hanging in my closet "- for more conservative advice from the likes of Suze Orman … who promise I never say, Manolo Blahniks are a sound investment.
4. Demetri Martin. Have not heard from him yet? Be careful. Curiously, policy-free and stealthily smart, took his new show, important things, his Comedy Central debut in the last month .. brings "New York" magazine, on the best, "So, if the last choice of a free-floating desire among young people in a shift in direction the smart, the various signals and embrace the new, then Demetri Martin is the man arriving at the exact right moment. "
5. Our Class Clown growing. The always charming, Celebrity Puke Ashton Kutcher puts his infectious energy and multi-tasking mind for a good cause. He has recently announced its commitment against human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children by the end of his Presidential Pledge. Kutcher has gathered hundreds of fellow celebrities to make their own commitments and continue to encourage us all to change. He is to help with its new social media presence to sick children.
Head are back. Fiscal responsibility the environment, the war in Iraq, human rights, poverty and health – it's all got to stay top-of-memory. Take your pick, because there is a mountain of work to do. We can no longer afford the luxury of ignorance or keep waiting to do for someone else to do the job. Sure, we're still dancing with the stars and keep Britney was based on the top of our Yahoo searches (we are Americans, after all), but first we will do our homework.
